What the S7 actually does
The S7 is the honest entry point. It does the thing a tracker is actually for: it tells a control room where your vehicle is, around the clock, and puts people to work on getting it back if it moves when it should not. What it does not do is pretend to be more than that, and for a lot of people that is exactly right.
The difference between this and the S5 units is driver recognition. An S5 carries tags, so it knows whether an authorised driver is present and can treat the vehicle moving without one as an alert on its own. The S7 has no tags: it is asset tracking. It knows where the vehicle is, not who is driving it. That is the whole of the distinction, and it is the reason insurers name one or the other.
You get live location in the app or through the web portal, geo-fenced areas you can be told about, and alerts for tampering and a low vehicle battery. Behind it is a monitoring centre that can pass location, direction and vehicle state to the police during a theft, which is the part you cannot replicate with a cheap device and a phone.

Tamper alerts if somebody starts poking at the unit, and a warning if the vehicle battery is running down rather than leaving you to find out.
It does not overreach
No driver tags, no immobilisation, no telemetry you will never open. If your insurer asked for S7, this satisfies it without you paying for an S5 you did not need.
Is the S7 right for you?
Worth it for
Anybody whose insurer has asked for a Thatcham S7, and anybody who wants monitored recovery on a vehicle without paying for driver recognition they will not use. A sensible choice on a van, a second car or a caravan.
Probably not for
Anybody whose policy specifies S5. The S7 will not satisfy that wording, and finding out at claim time is the worst possible moment. Check the policy first and we will match it.

The S7 is only as good as the install
The box is the same wherever you buy it. What changes is where it ends up in the car and how cleanly it is wired in, and that is the part a thief actually has to beat. It is most of what you are paying us for, so it is worth saying plainly.
On the ScorpionTrack S7: an S7 lives or dies on where the unit and its aerial end up. It needs enough sky to report accurately and enough concealment that somebody sweeping the vehicle does not find it in the first minute, and those two things pull against each other. That judgement, made on your vehicle, is most of what you are paying for.

What will it not do?+
It will not stop the theft. There are no driver tags, no immobilisation and no alarm: it is a recovery tool that does its work after the vehicle has moved. Can it stop my car being stolen?+
No, and nobody should tell you otherwise. A tracker is a recovery tool. It does its work once the vehicle has already moved. If you want the theft prevented, look at an immobiliser such as the Storm, or the S7 paired with the X-Series immobiliser.

We will tell you what it costs before you commit to anything, and we will tell you honestly if a monitored system is more than you actually need.
Will the S7 fit my vehicle?+
