What the Scorpion S5-VTS actually does
The S5-VTS is Scorpion's answer to the specification most insurers mean when they ask for an S5: category S5 tracking with Automatic Driver Recognition on top. Your tag travels with you, and the system checks for it whenever the vehicle moves, so a car setting off without an authorised driver present is an alert in its own right rather than an ambiguous blip somebody has to interpret later.
It is monitored rather than left for you to notice. The control centre is made and staffed in the UK, watching around the clock, every day of the year. When something looks wrong they try to reach you first, since most alerts turn out to be entirely innocent, and if it is genuine they work with the police while the vehicle is still moving.
Day to day it is the app: live location, journey history, geo-fenced areas, and modes for when the car is legitimately at a garage or being transported, so an honest event does not read as a theft. What it does not have is immobilisation. This is a recovery system, and it does that one job well rather than trying to be two things at once.

Probably not for
Anybody who wants the theft prevented rather than solved. The S5-VTS does its work after the vehicle has gone, and it carries a subscription for as long as you want it watched. If you want the car stopped as well as found, look at the Meta Trak S5 Deadlock instead.

The Scorpion S5-VTS is only as good as the install
The box is the same wherever you buy it. What changes is where it ends up in the car and how cleanly it is wired in, and that is the part a thief actually has to beat. It is most of what you are paying us for, so it is worth saying plainly.
On the ScorpionTrack S5-VTS: the unit and its aerial need a position with enough sky to work reliably and enough awkwardness that somebody sweeping the vehicle does not find it in the first minute. Those two requirements pull against each other, and resolving them on your particular vehicle is the whole job.

The difference is the app and the company behind it, and in some cases which one a manufacturer-approved scheme or an insurer names specifically. Where you have a free choice, we will talk you through both rather than push either.
What does the control centre actually do?+

Is this better than the Meta Trak S5-VTS?+
No, and it is not worse either. They are the same Thatcham category doing the same job with different apps behind them. Pick on which one your insurer or scheme names, and otherwise on which app you would rather live with, and we will show you both.
Is the control centre really in the UK?+
Yes. Scorpion monitor from their own UK facility, which is one of the reasons some manufacturer-approved schemes name them directly.
What happens if my car is actually stolen?+
The control centre sees it move without a tag, or picks up another alert. They ring you first to rule out the obvious, and if it is genuine they work with the police to recover it while the vehicle is still moving.
Does the S5-VTS stop the car being driven?+
No. It tracks and it recognises the driver, but it does not immobilise. If you want that as well, the ScorpionTrack S5+ adds automatic immobilisation on top of the same category of monitored tracking, or there is the Meta Trak S5 Deadlock if you would rather stay with that app.
Is there a subscription with the Scorpion S5-VTS?+
Yes, and there has to be. The subscription pays for the staffed control room watching the vehicle and the recovery service behind it, not for the box itself. We will tell you what it costs before you commit to anything, and we will tell you honestly if a monitored system is more than you actually need.
Will the Scorpion S5-VTS fit my vehicle?+
Almost certainly. Trackers are far less fussy about make and model than an alarm is, because they are not talking to the car's own systems in the same way. Send us the make, model and year and we will confirm before you commit to anything.
