What the Meta Trak S7 actually does

The S7 is Meta Trak's entry point, and it does the honest job a tracker is actually for: it tells a control centre where your vehicle is, around the clock, and puts people to work on getting it back if it moves when it should not. There are no driver tags and no immobilisation. It is asset tracking, not driver recognition, and that is the whole of the distinction between this and the S5 range.

Where it earns its place against a plainer S7 is the app. Journey history runs thirty days deep, and journey scoring marks out your last twenty trips on braking, cornering and acceleration, which is as useful for a new driver on the policy as it is for a fleet van. Geo-fenced areas, low battery warnings and tamper alerts are all in there too, viewed in the app or through the web portal.

Behind it sits a Secure Operating Centre staffed around the clock, every day of the year, covering the vehicle across Europe. If it moves without authorisation, they are the ones who pick that up and start working the recovery, which is the part a phone with a dot on it cannot do by itself.

What can the Meta Trak S7 do?

Somebody is actually watching

A staffed Secure Operating Centre, day and night, all year. That is the line between a tracker and a gadget, and it is what the subscription pays for.

It marks how the car was driven

Braking, cornering and acceleration scored on your last twenty trips. Useful for a new driver on the policy, and useful for a van you do not drive yourself.

Where it is, whenever you want

Live position in the app or the web portal, with thirty days of journey history behind it.

Tell me if it leaves here

Set a geo-fenced area and be told when the vehicle enters or leaves it. Handy for a yard, a depot, or simply your own street.

It notices interference

Tamper alerts if somebody starts poking at the unit, and a warning if the vehicle battery is running down or gets disconnected, rather than leaving you to find out.

It does not overreach

No driver tags, no immobilisation, no telemetry you will never open. If your insurer asked for S7, this satisfies it without paying for an S5 you did not need.

Is the Meta Trak S7 right for you?

Worth it for

Anybody whose insurer has asked for a Thatcham S7, and anybody who wants the Meta Trak app specifically, journey scoring included, on a vehicle where driver recognition is not needed.

Probably not for

Anybody whose policy specifies S5. The S7 will not satisfy that wording, and finding out at claim time is the worst possible moment. Check the policy first and we will match it.

Not sure which side of that you fall on? Tell us the make, model and year and what you are actually worried about, and we will tell you straight, including when the cheaper option is the right answer.

Professionally installed by Securacar

The Meta Trak S7 is only as good as the install

The box is the same wherever you buy it. What changes is where it ends up in the car and how cleanly it is wired in, and that is the part a thief actually has to beat. It is most of what you are paying us for, so it is worth saying plainly.

On the Meta Trak S7: an S7 lives or dies on where the unit and its aerial end up. It needs enough sky to report accurately and enough concealment that somebody sweeping the vehicle does not find it in the first minute, and those two things pull against each other on every car.

  • Fitted where you are

At your home or your workplace, across the North West. You hand the keys over at the start and get on with your day.

  • Hidden properly

The first thing a thief does is look for the unit. Where it goes is decided on your car, on the day, not copied from a diagram.

  • Shown how it works

Before we leave, you use it yourself with us stood there. Nobody drives off unsure which button does what.

  • TASSA approved

We are TASSA approved installers, which is a check on the people doing the work rather than on the box. It is the accreditation that exists precisely because a good system fitted badly is not a good system.

  • We are here afterwards

Questions a week later, or a year later, get answered. You are dealing with the person who fitted it, not a call centre.

Booking it

  2. 02

We price it for your car

  3. 03

    We come to you

At your home or your workplace, at a time that suits you, anywhere across the North West. You hand the keys over at the start and get on with your day.

You use it before we leave

We set it up with you, then watch you use it yourself. Nobody drives away unsure which button does what, and we are still here a year later if you have a question.

Meta Trak S7: worth knowing

The detail, if you want it

How is the Meta Trak S7 different from the ScorpionTrack S7?+

Functionally almost identical: both are Thatcham category S7, both are asset tracking rather than driver recognition, and both sit behind a staffed control centre around the clock. The difference is the app and the company behind it. Meta Trak's leans on journey scoring, marking out your last twenty trips on braking, cornering and acceleration, which some people find genuinely useful and others never open. If your insurer or a manufacturer scheme names one brand specifically, that decides it for you.

What does journey scoring actually tell me?+

How the vehicle was driven, not just where it went: braking, cornering and acceleration, scored over your last twenty trips. It is aimed at fleets and at parents with a new driver on the policy as much as at security, and it is one of the things that separates Meta Trak's app from a plainer tracker.

What is the difference between S7 and S5?+

S7 is asset tracking: it reports where the vehicle is. S5 adds driver recognition through a tag you carry, so the system also knows whether an authorised driver is present. Our guide covers the distinction properly, and it is the reason an insurer asks for one category rather than the other.

How do I know if the S7 satisfies my policy?+

Read the wording and send it to us. If it says S7, this satisfies it. If it names S5, it does not, and finding that out now is a great deal better than finding it out during a claim.

What will it not do?+

Stop the theft. There is no driver tag and no immobilisation, so it is a recovery tool that does its work once the vehicle has already moved. This guide walks through the difference if prevention is what you are actually after.

Meta Trak S7 questions

Meta Trak or ScorpionTrack, for an S7?+

Both are Thatcham S7 approved and both are monitored around the clock. The practical difference is the app: Meta Trak leans on journey scoring, ScorpionTrack's is plainer. If your insurer or a manufacturer scheme names one brand, that settles it; otherwise it comes down to which app you would rather use, and we are happy to show you both.

Will the S7 satisfy my insurance?+

If your policy asks for a Thatcham S7, yes. If it specifies S5, no, and it matters that you know that before rather than after. Send us the exact wording and we will tell you plainly which of the systems we fit meets it.

Can it stop my car being stolen?+

No, and nobody should tell you otherwise. A tracker is a recovery tool that does its work once the vehicle has already moved. If you want the theft prevented, look at the S5 Deadlock, which adds immobilisation, or at an immobiliser on its own.

Does it work abroad?+

European coverage is included as standard, so taking the car across to France or Spain does not leave it unwatched. Tell us if you regularly travel further than that and we will check before you commit.

Is there a subscription with the Meta Trak S7?+

Yes, and there has to be. The subscription pays for the staffed control room watching the vehicle and the recovery service behind it, not for the box itself. We will tell you what it costs before you commit to anything, and we will tell you honestly if a monitored system is more than you actually need.

Will the Meta Trak S7 fit my vehicle?+

Almost certainly. Trackers are far less fussy about make and model than an alarm is, because they are not talking to the car's own systems in the same way. Send us the make, model and year and we will confirm before you commit to anything.

Where do you fit it?+

At your home or your workplace, anywhere across the North West. You hand over the keys at the start, we show you how the app works at the end, and you get on with your day in between.
