Product description

For your peace of mind

Pandora Smart

The Smart is where the connected part of the Pandora range starts. It is a full alarm, a GPS tracker and an immobiliser in one hidden unit, and it runs on the same Pandora Connect app as the systems above it. If you want the car to be able to reach you wherever you are, rather than only when you are stood next to it, this is the point in the range where that begins.

The car reaches you over 4G, so an alert arrives while somebody is still stood on the drive. If the data connection is not the fastest route, the GSM side rings you and texts up to three numbers instead. Positioning uses GPS and GLONASS, with full drive history and the virtual garage, so you can see where the car is, where it has been and how it was driven.

The immobiliser is released by a Bluetooth 5.0 tag with 128-bit encryption rather than by your key, which is the part that matters on a keyless car. Copying or relaying your key signal gets a thief into the car and no further, because the car is not asking the key, it is asking the tag. Anti-HiJack is built in for the rarer case where somebody tries to take it while you are in it, bringing the car to a safe stop if the tag leaves it after the engine has started, and you can immobilise it manually at any time by calling the alarm's own number and entering your code. Remote start is available as an optional extra, with the immobiliser bypass built into the unit so you never have to hand over a spare key to make it work.

What can the Smart do?

The tag is the key

The car looks for an encrypted Bluetooth tag in your pocket before it will move. That is why relaying or cloning your actual key gets a thief nowhere.

It rings you

A push notification is easy to sleep through. If something happens, the Smart will ring your phone and text up to three numbers as well.

Every journey on a map

GPS and GLONASS, full drive history and the virtual garage. Useful if you lend the car out, and very useful indeed if it goes missing.

If it happens while you are in it

Anti-HiJack brings the car to a safe stop if the tag leaves it after the engine has started, or immobilise it yourself at any time by calling the alarm's number and entering your code.

Warm before you get in

Add remote start as an optional extra, then run it from the app, with the immobiliser bypass built into the unit so no spare key of yours has to be left behind for it to work.

Room to grow

It takes additional wireless modules, so it can be added to later rather than replaced if what you need changes.

Pandora Connect

For iOS and Android

Watch the explainer

Monitor, control and track your car in real time, from the phone already in your pocket. The apps are built for both Android and iOS, and they work with most smartwatches too.

  • Arm and disarm

Lock the system down or open it up from wherever you happen to be, without reaching for a fob.

  • Remote engine start

Start the engine from the app and get into a car that is already warm and clear.

  • Know how the car is

Engine temperature, fuel level and battery voltage, all on one screen without going outside to look.

Is the Smart right for you?

Worth it for

Keyless cars and everyday family cars where you want the alarm, the tracking and the app without stepping up to the Smart Pro.

Probably not for

Somebody who wants the deeper telemetry, the CAN bus work and the wider vehicle support of the Smart Pro, or a physical two way remote. That is a step up.

Not sure which side of that you fall on? Tell us the make, model and year and what you are actually worried about, and we will tell you straight, including when the cheaper option is the right answer.

Professionally installed by Securacar

The Smart is only as good as the install

The box is the same wherever you buy it. What changes is where it ends up in the car and how cleanly it is wired in, and that is the part a thief actually has to beat. It is most of what you are paying us for, so it is worth saying plainly.

On the Pandora Smart: the base unit and the antenna both need to be somewhere with signal and somewhere awkward to reach, and those two things pull in opposite directions. Getting the compromise right on your specific car is the job.

  • Fitted where you are

At your home or your workplace, across the North West. You hand the keys over at the start and get on with your day.

  • Hidden properly

The first thing a thief does is look for the unit. Where it goes is decided on your car, on the day, not copied from a diagram.

  • Shown how it works

Before we leave, you use it yourself with us stood there. Nobody drives off unsure which button does what.

  • TASSA approved

We are TASSA approved installers, which is a check on the people doing the work rather than on the box. It is the accreditation that exists precisely because a good system fitted badly is not a good system.

  • We are here afterwards

Questions a week later, or a year later, get answered. You are dealing with the person who fitted it, not a call centre.

Booking it

What happens if you go ahead

Four steps, no showroom visit and no deposit taken over the internet. Most people are booked in within a couple of minutes of picking up the phone.

  1. 01

    Tell us the car

Make, model and year, by phone, WhatsApp or the form below. We confirm the Smart is right for your vehicle before anything is booked, and we will say so if it is not.

  2. 02

We price it for your car

No two vehicles are the same job, so you get a price for yours rather than a figure off a list. It is the price you pay, and nothing is booked until you are happy with it.

  3. 03

    We come to you

At your home or your workplace, at a time that suits you, anywhere across the North West. You hand the keys over at the start and get on with your day.

  4. 04

You use it before we leave

We set it up with you, then watch you use it yourself. Nobody drives away unsure which button does what, and we are still here a year later if you have a question.

Smart: worth knowing

The detail, if you want it

What makes this the start of the connected range?+

Below the Smart, a Pandora talks to you when you are stood near the car. From the Smart upward it reaches you wherever you are, over 4G, with GPS behind it. That is the line this product sits on, and it is the thing worth deciding: do you want to know what is happening to the car when you are not there, or simply to be protected while it sits on the drive?

How does an encrypted tag beat a cloned key?+

Because the car is checking for the tag rather than trusting the key. Relaying or cloning your fob gets somebody through the door and no further, since the immobiliser is waiting for something they do not have. Our relay theft guide covers how the attack is actually carried out on a driveway.

Why is the Smart not Thatcham approved when the Smart Pro is?+

The siren. The Smart Pro comes with one as part of the system and the Smart does not, and that is what the approval turns on. If your insurer has asked for a Thatcham approved alarm, the Smart will not satisfy it, and you should be looking at the Smart Pro instead. We would rather tell you now than after a claim.

What does the mobile connection need?+

A SIM in the unit and a data plan behind it, which is an ongoing cost. It is what pays for the car being able to ring you, text up to three numbers and push to the app. If you want none of that and no monthly outgoing, the Light Pro is a full alarm without any of it.

What is Anti-HiJack for?+

The rarer and nastier case where somebody tries to take the vehicle while you are still with it. If the car is started but the tag moves out of range, the system brings it to a safe, discreet stop after a short delay, giving you time to get clear rather than a confrontation. You can also immobilise the car manually at any point by calling the alarm's own number and entering your code, which disables every active tag straight away. It is not a feature anybody enjoys thinking about, and it is worth knowing is there.

Is remote start included?+

Not as standard. It is available as an optional extra and needs additional hardware fitting alongside the base system, so it is worth mentioning when you enquire if it is something you want.

Pandora Smart questions

What is the difference between the Smart and the Smart Pro?+

Both are a full alarm, tracker and immobiliser on the same app. The Smart Pro adds CAN bus connection and a fuller telemetry package, which matters most on newer and better equipped cars, and it comes with a siren, which is why it is the Thatcham approved one. If your insurer has not asked for Thatcham approval and your car is not especially complicated, the Smart may well be all you need, and we will say so.

How does it stop relay theft?+

The immobiliser is released by an encrypted Bluetooth tag, not by your car key. A thief who relays or clones your key signal can get into the car, but the car will not move, because it is not the key it is checking for.

Is the Pandora Smart Thatcham approved?+

No, and we would rather tell you that plainly than let you find out later. The Smart Pro is the Thatcham approved one, because it comes with a siren as part of the system and the Smart does not. If your insurer has asked for Thatcham approval, look at the Smart Pro instead, and send us the wording your policy actually uses so we can be certain before anything is ordered.

Does it need a SIM or a subscription?+

Yes. The tracking, the alerts and the app all run over a mobile connection, so there is a SIM in the unit. We will go through exactly how that works and what it costs before you commit to anything.

Does remote start come with it?+

Not as standard. It is available as an optional extra, needing additional hardware fitted alongside the base system, so tell us if it is something you want and we will price it in.

Will the Pandora Smart fit my car?+

Most cars from the last fifteen years or so, yes, but it does depend on the make, model and year. Send us those three things and we will confirm before you commit to anything.

Where do you fit it?+

At your home or your workplace, anywhere across the North West. You hand over the keys at the start, we show you how it works at the end, and you get on with your day in between.

Will it affect my manufacturer warranty?+

What we fit is designed to sit alongside your car's own electronics and we do not cut into anything we should not. Manufacturers word their warranties differently though, so it is worth a quick check with your dealer first. We are happy to talk it through.
